- UncovĀerĀing the HidĀden CurĀricuĀlum is a cross-instiĀtuĀtion, cross-secĀtor, and cross-disĀciĀpliĀnary iniĀtiaĀtive that aims to supĀport a learnerās acaĀdĀeĀmĀic, perĀsonĀal, and proĀfesĀsionĀal develĀopĀment.
- This webĀsite includes varĀiĀous skills-based conĀtent and resources that eduĀcaĀtors can embed in their coursĀes.
- UncovĀerĀing the HidĀden CurĀricuĀlum will supĀport stuĀdent menĀtal health, which was the iniĀtial motiĀvaĀtion for this project.
- In addiĀtion, when eduĀcaĀtors engage in activĀiĀties to uncovĀer the hidĀden curĀricuĀlum it humanĀizes learnĀing and makes for more meanĀingĀful interĀacĀtions with stuĀdents.
- UncovĀerĀing the HidĀden CurĀricuĀlum conĀsists of 54 skills/topics that are catĀeĀgoĀrized into 5 domains: execĀuĀtive funcĀtion, comĀmuĀniĀcaĀtion, critĀiĀcal thinkĀing, intra- and interĀperĀsonĀal, and social accountĀabilĀiĀty.
- Each skill/topic is orgaĀnized as a modĀule that includes conĀtent and resources for both stuĀdents and eduĀcaĀtors.
- The conĀtent addressĀes why it is imporĀtant for stuĀdents to develĀop the skill and how it links with menĀtal health.
- The resources include strateĀgies eduĀcaĀtors can share with stuĀdents, tips for eduĀcaĀtors when designĀing and impleĀmentĀing their coursĀes, and activĀiĀties eduĀcaĀtors can do with stuĀdents.
- When navĀiĀgatĀing the skills/topics, keep in mind that to uncovĀer them is to embed them into teachĀing and learnĀing spaces in explicĀit and meanĀingĀful ways. UncovĀerĀing the HidĀden CurĀricuĀlum supĀports, and in some casĀes becomes part of, existĀing course design and conĀtent. This process is a jourĀney and any steps towards it demonĀstrate a comĀmitĀment and engageĀment to stuĀdents that wonāt go unnoĀticed.
