When you want to import or copy course materials to a Brightspace course, you will use the Import/Export/Copy Components tool. You can copy an entire course or select components, but you must be an instructor in both the course you want to copy from and copy into.
Examples of when you may want to import or copy components:
At the start of a semester, copying content from a previous term to a live course, or importing an exported course into a live course.
At the start of a semester, copying a Master course to a live course so you don’t have to start from scratch.
At the end of a semester, copying a live course back into a Master course to keep it up to date.
Copying selected parts of a another course (e.g., quiz, discussion, content item, gradebook setup) to use in either a live course or in a Master course. NOTE: this workflow is for instructors who know exactly what component(s) they want to copy.
Log in to Brightspace (https://mycourses.nic.bc.ca) and navigate to the Brightspace course you want to add content to.
Click on the cog icon in the top right corner next to your name and select Import/Export/Copy Components.
Click on Copy Components from another Org Unit and then click on Search for Offering.
Search for the course you want to copy content from. When you see the course in the list, click the button to the left of the course name and then click Add Selected. You will be returned to the Import/Export/Copy Components window.
Choose Copy All Components to copy over an entire course. The copying process automatically begins and you will be notified when it is complete.
After you are finished, you can navigate away from the page using the View Content button to confirm what was copied over.
The View History link will always share what you’ve already copied into the course with the date and time.

Choose Select Components to copy over selected course materials (i.e., content items, assignments, quizzes, discussions, gradebook items, etc.). Select the items you wish to copy and click Continue until you see Finish. NOTE: You’ll likely want to copy both Content and Course Files — the Content is what learners see in the Content area and the Course Files are the images, html pages, PDFs and other items associated or used to build the content pages.
You will be notified when the copy process is complete, at which time you can navigate away from the page using the View Content button to confirm what was copied over.
