Import or Copy Course Materials

When you want to import or copy course materials to a Brightspace course, you will use the Import/Export/Copy Components tool. You can copy an entire course or select components, but you must be an instructor in both the course you want to copy from and copy into.

Examples of when you may want to import or copy components:

  • At the start of a semester, copying content from a previous term to a live course, or importing an exported course into a live course.
  • At the start of a semester, copying a Master course to a live course so you don’t have to start from scratch.
  • At the end of a semester, copying a live course back into a Master course to keep it up to date.
  • Copying selected parts of a another course (e.g., quiz, discussion, content item, gradebook setup) to use in either a live course or in a Master course. NOTE: this workflow is for instructors who know exactly what component(s) they want to copy.
